The more intricate pattern is inspired by zellige, the stunning and intricate hand-cut tiling seen throughout Morocco. Zellige is the subtle application of one's feelings through form and colours.
A Zellige master spends six or seven years of apprenticeship drawing geometric configurations. Mathematically, the number of patterns within a design are huge. Amazingly, not one pattern is written down, all are committed to the master's memory.
